To use Google Fonts in the 'Classic Editor', you must first tell the plugin which fonts you want to use.
In wp-admin, navigate to Appearance → Customize

Click Fonts Plugin → Advanced Settings → Load Fonts Only

Add the fonts you want to use
Click Publish

Once you have completed the above steps, your chosen fonts will now be available in the Classic Editor interface:
